Now that I have my goals for meeting technology standards I need to decide how I am going to get there. The two goals I have chosen are different from each other so each will require different levels of research and time to prepare to implement lessons.
Goal 1: to introduce and implement new technology to my students throughout units of study and assessments,
To start, I need to search for new technologies to introduce to my students. I will also need to survey my students to see what they are familiar with already so I do not implement technology all of them are comfortable with. I have been able to talk to some of my classmates about digital story programs and other ideas of technology to introduce to my students.
Another step I need to take is make the time to search for the new technologies and teach myself how to use them as well. This will take some amount of time and I am hoping to use my time off this summer to accomplish this. To assess my progress I will reflect on the success of my lessons and discuss my progress with my colleagues.
Goal 2: of promoting/modeling digital etiquette to my students when I am implementing technology or using information from another source.
To accomplish this I will need to find resources of what digital etiquette is. Also I would like to review the DVD program from a previous course where the teacher taught students how to evaluate and analyze a website. She also discussed how to model digital etiquette on this video. I am sure there are some resources out there such as WebQuests or PowerPoints that I could use as well. If I am not able to find these types of resources I will have to synthesize the information I find to create one.
I will need to make sure to monitor my progress, research, and reflect during the whole process of executing my GAME plan. This will take time but I hope to have made revisions to my lessons for the beginning of the school year.

Although my goal is different than yours I am always research new technology tools that can benefit my classroom and to me at first it was not the research that I find difficult but learning these new tools that was challenging. Some of the new technology that I have found seem to be very confusing to maneuver around I feel like it is taking me forever to learn so how can I expect my students to pick on this quickly. What I have started to realize though is that most of my students are quicker learners than I when it comes to technology and they can actually teach me on many of these new programs that I am finding. Many of them have already used the programs thousands of times before. So although it is new to me it is old to them which in return has made my research harder because trying to find a new program to them is pretty difficult. Like you I want to use the summer to really dig into my research and hope that I can start September off with a greater understanding of new technology. What programs have you learned so far?
ReplyDeleteFor my GAME plan I too need to monitor my progress because it is extremely easy to brush it to the side and then it would be a crash course come September. I set up a check list which is helping me to stay on task along the way along with has forced me monitor my progress. Sometimes life just gets away from you.

ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that time can fly by and things can be pushed to the side. I am trying to set aside time during my planning periods at school and during my son's nap time at home to work on meeting my GAME plan goals but every day is not the same. Some days I am able to work for hours and others I don't get anything accomplished at all! Life just moves too fast.

ReplyDeleteI could not agree more!! I feel like some day’s I can get so much accomplished were other days I feel like I get nothing done. I took try and get things accomplished during planning time and my son's nap time but it always seems like time gets away from me. Life does more too fast!!!
