Now that the school year has come to an end I feel like I have more time to research new technologies available for use in my classroom. I do not see making any changes to my current goals on my GAME plan but I definitely foresee adding goals! I did bring home my unit binders to work on implementation of technology and citing the sources I use to demonstrate ethical use to my students. I not only want to revisit and revamp each unit I teach during the year but I also want to plan an interdisciplinary unit with my math teacher. In this unit we would like the students to market a product and produce a budget for marketing. We have planned several meetings where we can begin planning this unit and figure out how to incorporate the science and social studies teachers as well.
At this point in the course I feel I have learned more about the NETS standards and although I feel my students are behind that I can help guide them to proficiency. Summer definitely has ignited a new spark and more time to work on my GAME Plan, even though I won't be able to implement this work until the fall.

ReplyDeleteYour post reminded me of an opportunity I have of adding a goal to my game plan as well. This summer I signed up for an opportunity to be a part of the curriculum writing committee. Using my knowledge of technology and available programs, I can make suggestions and changes for my district. Usually at this time of the year I am fried and ready for a total break; however learning about the possibilities of technology has also inspired me and made me excited for September.

ReplyDeleteFirst, SEPTEMBER!! I go back August 2nd with professional development and kids Aug. 12th-ish!! I am so jealous. I wish my county had a district writing committee. They are so unrealistic as to what each grade is supposed to have the students write each year. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteYou got me excited to start working on my own lessons over the summer. It is amazing how much more relaxed the end of the year is compared to the beginning and middle. What kinds of technology are thinking about adding to your lessons? Throughout this grad program I feel that I have learned so many good technology tools but now I do not know where to start. This year I had my students post a comment on my blog page and I was amazed at not only how fast they picked up on the program but how many of them already new what to do. Everyday my students amaze me at how much they know when it comes to computers. In one of my classes I have a student who can not even spell his own name but he can create an I-movie on his own. It is amazing how the brain works and what kids are capable of.
Throughout this class we have definitely reviewed the NETS which have made me think about how I can master multiple standards at one time when you use technology.
